Limited Submissions
Limited submission opportunities are those programs or funding announcements where the number of applications or proposals an institution
may submit is restricted by the sponsor. The sponsor places the responsibility of review and selection on the institution.
The University of Alabama categorizes limited submissions into two groups.
- Cross-campus announcements
- Localized announcements
Cross-campus announcements: Typically these announcements are annual,
issued by major federal funding agencies, broad, and may be relevant to a large number of
researchers at The University of Alabama. These announcement typically draw enough interest to warrent an internal review of white papers.
Localized announcements typically have a narrower focus and are relevant to a smaller audience. These announcements may come
from smaller sponsors, such as foundations, and may be determined internally within the department.

White Paper Instructions
When a white paper (2 page limit) is required, instructions for submission will be sent via an e-mail to all appropriate Associate Deans for Research. A brief (not detailed) budget should be included and will not count
toward the 2-page limit.
Each white paper will be reviewed by an internal panel. Submitters will be notified of the selections by e-mail.
