Training
The Institutional Animal Care
and Use Committee (IACUC) requires that all IACUC members, researchers,
students and anyone working with laboratory animals complete training
prior to any involvement with animal subjects. The IACUC supports two
on-line training programs that are designed to provide the user with
required information on the humane care and use of laboratory animals as
mandated by federal regulations.
The
first training course can be found at
http://www.citiprogram.org. Once there simply click on "New Users Register Here". Under the "Select your Institution of Organization" page select UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA in the "Participating Institutions" drop down box. Next you will proceed to create your own username and password and select the desired course.
The second training course is provided by the Laboratory Animal Training
Association (LATA) and can be found at
http://hazel.forest.net/latanet/client/alabama/introduction.htm. Registration information for this course can
be obtained by contacting Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) at (205)
348-5905. This course will automatically provide UA with a record of the
training you completed.
